As you may have guessed from the title of the web site my name is Alan Pullen! This page is devoted to telling you a little bit more about me!
In a nutshell, I am a professional Civil Engineer and enjoy the great outdoors and technology!
I am a keen cyclist and hiker, and like nothing more than to be surrounded by nature in the great outdoors! There is nothing more tranquil than a peaceful walk through the British countryside listening the to birds and wildlife!
I am also a keen digital photographer with a preference for wildlife and landscape photography.
I also enjoy dabbling with web development, programming, 3D printing and electronics. My love of electronics and making things was rekindled by the the launch of the Raspberry Pi and discovery of the Arduino platform. I am also an avid gamer on both console (Xbox One) and PC, and I can be found on Xbox Live, Origin and Steam as AdhesiveRat. I mainly enjoy strategy games such as Civilization, first person shooters, action/adventure games like Tomb Raider and driving games.
I am an Incorporated Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, currently working in the rail sector. My work includes, designing, inspecting and assessing all manner of structures on the rail network ranging from fencing to multiple span bridge structures. I have worked on several major projects in the UK including Crossrail, Emirates Air Line (London Cable Car), Borders Rail and High Speed 2.
I have a Bachelors degree from the University of Nottingham in Civil and Structural Engineering.
I have A Levels in Chemistry, Physics, Electronics and Mathematics from Long Road Sixth Form College, Cambridge.
I also have 10 GCSE’s from Linton Village College.
